This week saw, what the travel industry believes is, the busiest day of the year for flight bookings and Jet2.com, the airline with friendly low fares, added an extra route from Edinburgh to the most popular flight destination of Malaga.

Many travel industry experts believe that 11 or 12 January is the busiest day of the year for holiday bookings. Last year over 83,000 bookings were made using Visa cards and it is thought that this year will be no different.

Likely to be at the top of these bookings is flights to Malaga, the Spanish resort that unlocks the Costa Del Sol. Many predictions put Spain near the top of 2011s hotspots because of the weakening of the Euro and Britains continued love affair with the sunshine laden country.
